Consider yourself served!

Have you ever stopped to think of how important God considers His church? Consider this: In Matthew 16:18, Jesus said that He would build His church. In Acts 20:28, we read that Jesus purchased the church (His church) with His own blood. In Colossians 1:18 we learn that the body of Christ is the church, and in Ephesians 5:23 we are told that Jesus is the Savior of the body (the church). From this reasoning, we understand that “the church” is the body of Christ, which will be saved.
In 1 Peter 1:9, the apostle Peter tells us that the result of our faith is the salvation of our souls. But how does the Christian arrive at this faith? Peter proceeds to tell us in the following verses, 10-11, that we have been ministered to by the Old Testament prophets, the Holy Spirit, and the apostles. He tells us that the prophets inquired and searched carefully about the time when Christ would come and die for our sins, and the glories that would follow. Peter writes that it was by the Holy Spirit that the apostles preached the gospel to man, and we know that the gospel is the “power of God unto salvation” (Romans 1:16) and that faith comes from hearing the Word of God (Romans 10:17).
Knowing these things from scripture, isn’t it wonderful that God has given such an amazing promise to feeble man? Christians should be humbled to think that we have been ministered to down through the ages by such men as Moses, David, Isaiah, Daniel, and so many others. We should be awe-struck to know we have been served (2 Cor. 4:5) by apostles such as Peter, Paul, John and James, who lived and died in service of the gospel. Consider yourself served!
If you are not a Christian, perhaps you should consider what God has done for you, and obey His gospel call! Examine the Bible’s teaching on salvation (John 3:16, 8:24; Luke 13:3; Acts 17:30; Matt. 10:32-33; Mark 16:16: Acts 2:38; Rev. 2:10; for instance) and obey His Word! Then you will be added to the saved, His body, His church (Acts 2:41,47).
